In the Home Stretch!
IDEA is coming to the end of an exciting conference and convention year. We are about to put on our third event of the year and are feeling the elation of being in the home stretch while simultaneously feeling a bit wistful that it’s all winding down.
In February, the IDEA Personal Trainer Institute™ in Alexandria, Virginia, sold out for the third consecutive year. What a fantastic slate of education it presented for attendees! Right now, we—and everyone on staff—are still reeling from the supercharged atmosphere of the IDEA World Fitness Convention™ in mid-August. Finally, in just a week or so, we will be on-site at our mind-body-spirit-themed Inner IDEA® Conference in La Jolla, California—right in our backyard. We definitely need the peace and calm of that event—this year unfolding at a tranquil oceanfront resort—to fully ground us after such a whirlwind year.
To simply mention IDEA World and move along in our message is not possible. It was such an incredible mix of quality education, special events within the main event, motivated attendees, all-star presenters and sharing of product knowledge in the Fitness & Wellness Expo that it’s hard to know where to start. Any time you get 5,000 fitness professionals under the same roof, you know it’s going to be magic! Our editors have put together a dazzling feature this issue called “Zero Regrets,” which comes as close to capturing the excitement of the event in words and photography as it possibly can.
Again, we want to thank our wonderful keynote speakers—Daniel Amen, MD, and Apolo Ohno (pictured above)—for making all of us smile, laugh and probe our minds and hearts more deeply with their unabashed energy and zest for life. And leave it to an 85-year-old woman to bring down the house! Elaine LaLanne carried on her husband Jack LaLanne’s legacy with grace, humor and a heartwarming surprise you can read more about in our event coverage. Sincere thanks to all of our staff, faculty and assistants who toiled for endless hours to take this convention to a new level.
