IDEA Mourns the Loss of Mel Siff
What's New:
IDEA is saddened to have lost one of the treasures of the fitness industry. Mel Siff passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 19 at the age of 59.
“He was a great man, and we are all better and stronger for having known him,” said his friend Paul Predecki, PhD, professor in the engineering department at the University of Denver.
One of the most learned men in health and fitness, Mel held a doctorate in physiology (specializing in biomechanics), a master’s degree in brain research and bachelor’s degrees in physics and applied mathematics. He was also one of the most accomplished, having addressed more than 100 conferences, including the 2003 IDEA Personal Trainer International Summit®, and written more than 150 books and papers.
Mel is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann, and his sister, Isabell Marie Markel of Utah.
