Green Tea & Prostate Cancer

by Diane Lofshult on May 01, 2005

When it comes to preventing cancer, green tea should be your cup of tea. Researchers reported in the December 1, 2004, issue of Cancer Research that compounds in green tea can thwart prostate cancer development in several ways. Apparently, green tea polyphenols (GTPs) stop the proliferation of tumor cells and inhibit the growth of blood vessels that nurture tumor development. According to the researchers, these same findings may apply to other forms of cancer, such as breast, lung and colon cancer.
