Frequently Asked Questions About Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting has hit the mainstream, and a lot of people are taking notice. Before you decide to try this weight loss method, here are some things that you should consider.
Will intermittent fasting cause muscle loss?
Probably not. As long as you get adequate protein and include resistance training in your program, you should maintain your muscle mass.
Can I drink coffee or tea during a fast?
Absolutely. In fact, research seems to indicate that consuming caffeine while fasting can enhance lipolysis and thermogenesis more than fasting alone can. And please note: You should drink as much water as you want.
Should pregnant or nursing mothers try intermittent fasting?
Probably not. Nutrition before, during and after pregnancy is critical for the baby’s health, so it is more important that you eat enough nourishing foods to meet your baby’s needs (and your own).To read the full article which ran in the April 2014 issue of IDEA Fitness Journal click here.
