Countdown: 2012 IDEA World Fitness Convention™!
A lot has happened since 1982, when IDEA was founded to bring professional standards and education to the emerging area of fitness instruction. This year’s convention theme, BE: the Transformation, captures the essence of fitness professionals’ greatest challenge and greatest joy—to transform the lives of others. “We’re celebrating that power of transformation and giving fitness pros ideas and tools to fulfill that potential, not just with clients but in their own lives,” says IDEA co-founder Kathie Davis. “To inspire others, we need to be inspired ourselves. This anniversary celebration will ignite your passion and spark new ideas so you can go home and inspire the people around you to be healthier and happier.”
Come celebrate 30 years at the 2012 IDEA World Fitness Convention™, Thursday, July 5, through Sunday, July 8, at the San Diego Convention Center.
30th Anniversary Highlights
Throughout the convention there will be exciting special events, parties and classes dedicated to IDEA’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. Some highlights:
30th Anniversary Opening Ceremonies. This year’s dazzling Opening Ceremonies will celebrate three decades of fitness, headlined by one of the industry’s most iconic legends: actress and fitness pioneer Jane Fonda. World-renowned speaker Pamela Peeke, MD, MPH, FACP, author of The Hunger Fix: The 3-Stage Solution to Free Yourself from Your Food Addictions for Life (Rodale 2012) and Tara Costa, who lost 155 pounds as a contestant on season seven of the hit show The Biggest Loser, will provide highly motivating keynote presentations. And the Torque Method Acrobats will perform their breathtaking Cirque du Soleil–inspired maneuvers.
IDEA’s 30th Anniversary Party: You ARE the Transformation! Take a trip down memory lane as you eat, drink and dance the night away with other fitness professionals from over 60 countries. Bring a photo of yourself as a kid or before you were a fitness pro, and pin it on your outfit to share your personal transformation!
Celebration Friday. Pull out your oldest IDEA T-shirt and wear it for laughs on Friday. If you’re a first-timer at IDEA World Fitness, stop by the IDEA booth to pick up your free 2012 commemorative T-shirt.
Explore Educational Opportunities
Design your own learning journey by choosing from the world’s biggest selection of fitness and wellness programs, equipment types, presenters and session topics. Take home the ideas, training and industry relationships you need to grow your business, advance your career and change the lives of your clients.
Educational areas will include personal training, group exercise, indoor cycling, mind-body, nutrition, and business and professional development. Personal trainers will receive hands-on, advanced education from the world’s best trainers, who will offer over 100 sessions exclusively for personal trainers. In addition, this year’s event is offering more sessions than ever before on food selection and preparation, weight loss research, sports nutrition, cooking science, and tips and tricks. Hands-on food demonstrations will also be available! These wide-ranging sessions reflect IDEA’s increased commitment to bringing whole-food and nutrition education to the forefront of the fitness industry.
During the event you can earn up to 20 CECs (more if you attend preconference sessions) from the leading educational agencies.
