IDEA Personal Trainer Institute™ East

Learn to train with purpose--and to translate that aim into profit--at the IDEA Personal Trainer Institute™ in Alexandria, Virginia, February 28-March 3, 2013.

The success of your business depends on the inspiration and purpose you bring to your training sessions. The theme of this year’s IDEA Personal Trainer Institute is “Training With a Purpose,” and the expanded program for 2013 will show you what’s ahead for the training industry and give the inspiration and focused skill training you need to spark client motivation and business growth.

Sixty percent of the attendees at the IDEA Personal Trainer Institute are personal training entrepreneurs who own or manage their own businesses and want to know how to equip them with the most effective and up-to-date equipment, research, techniques and programs. The event is an ideal opportunity for you to get ideas from other leading professionals who understand the challenges you face every day.

The consistently sold-out IDEA Personal Trainer Institute is the leading professional development event exclusively for personal trainers, with the industry’s most comprehensive and innovative education curriculum. Unlike many other events, the Personal Trainer Institute provides small session sizes so that attendees can enjoy a personalized educational experience. And with extended session lengths of 2–3 hours, delegates can immerse themselves in concentrated learning opportunities.

This year’s conference is bigger than ever—with 116 sessions, four all-day preconference workshops, a faculty of more than 50 industry leaders and up to 20 CECs available throughout the event. Eighty-five percent of the blockbuster program is brand-new for 2013! Attendees will have more session choices in these hot training areas:

  • 27% more programming in Business Development
  • 35% more programming in Specific-Population Training
  • 50% more programming in Nutrition and Weight Management
  • 60% more programming in Positive Well-Being

Conference sessions for training entrepreneurs will explore the most effective new social media, marketing, management and communications tactics for inspiring clients, delivering stronger results, and driving new business and income growth.

On Thursday, for an additional fee, trainers can choose from four full-day preconference workshops in these specialized training areas:

  • National Academy of Sports Medicine®: Youth Exercise Specialist Workshop with Eric Beard, MS, and Fabio Comana, MA, MS
  • American Council on Exercise®: Movement-Based Training with Pete McCall, MS
  • Gray Institute: Foundations of Movement Training with Doug Gray and Pat McCloskey, MS
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine®: Women’s Fitness Specialist Workshop with Eric Beard, MS, and Fabio Comana, MA, MS

At Thursday night’s industry-issues panel discussion—“What’s Ahead in Personal Training?”—leading presenters Mitch Batkin, MA, Fabio Comana, MA, MS, Rodney Corn, MA, Hayley Hollander, Len Kravitz, PhD, and Pete McCall, MS, will weigh in on the future of training. Says Hollander, some of the trends they will explore include small-group personal training; integrating biofeedback to provide purpose, achievable goals, instant rewards, and consistency; and understanding client behavior and communication to implement individualized strategies.

“Any trainer can capitalize on current industry trends to succeed if they focus on their client’s specific purposes for training,” Hollander says. “The purpose most trainers should have in mind is to listen to clients. What do they like? What do they want? What will make them feel important, capable and confident so they ultimately have ownership in the programming process?”

The IDEA Personal Trainer Institute has sold out for 4 years in a row, and event and session attendance is limited to preserve the quality of instruction. Early registration is strongly advised.
