Ask The A Team...
Let our expert member services team answer your most frequently asked questions about the IDEA World Fitness Convention®.
By now you’ve had a chance to browse the brochure for the 2006 IDEA World Fitness Convention in Las Vegas (July 25–29). Some of you have already registered and received confirmation of a priority number that gives you the best chance to secure your first-choice sessions. Some of you may still be thinking about whether you’ll attend this year. In any of these scenarios, you’re bound to have questions about the registration process or the convention itself.
In an effort to clarify some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about registration, CECs, session selection, accommodations and other facets of this exciting event, we asked our member services crew—the A Team—to anticipate some of your needs. In addition to the usual array of exciting IDEA World Fitness Convention coverage we roll out in IDEA Fitness Journal, for the next three issues our senior director of membership Annina Torri, senior account manager Alex Halkias and account manager Anthony Gionti will continue to answer your FAQs and give tips on how to maximize your experience.
If you don’t find what you need here, in last month’s issue or in future issues, you can always contact the A Team directly by calling (800) 999-4332, ext. 7, or—if outside the United States and Canada—(858) 535-8979, ext. 7. The team is friendly, knowledgeable and ready to help you!
Your priority for sessions is determined by when you registered for the event. We accept registrations on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot guarantee that you’ll receive your first choices. However, the sooner you register, the higher your priority for sessions will be, and the greater your opportunity of receiving your top choices. IDEA members may also want to check out our Platinum Pass, which gives pass holders first priority for sessions. Don’t delay; space is limited!!
The IDEA Platinum Pass provides you with five-star treatment at the convention. Purchasing this special package will provide you with priority on session processing*; private check-in at a designated desk; exclusive advanced shopping in the Fitness Expo; a special first-class badge identifying you for preferential treatment; e-mail confirmation of your sessions**; an IDEA sports bag; and IDEA’s Inspire the World to Fitness® baseball-style cap. The IDEA Platinum Pass is $100 over registration prices and is only available for IDEA members.
*Priority is with original session assignment only, and sessions need to be submitted to IDEA by Friday, June 16.
**Session confirmation e-mails will be sent out after July 10 and only to valid e-mail addresses.
We ask all attendees to submit their session selections via the IDEA website (www.ideafit.com) by June 16. Simply log onto the website and click on the link for 2006 IDEA World Fitness. Once there, select the option “Choose Sessions.” You will be asked to enter your last name and membership number (if you don’t know your membership number, please call IDEA member services). Once you get to the session selection screen, you will be asked to select three session choices for each time block in order of preference (if you’ve paid for an InTensive or Club Without Walls session, please do not select anything in that time block). After you’ve selected your sessions, click “Submit Session Selection.” The next screen you see will be a list of all your selections. Please print this for your records. At the bottom of this list, you will be given a choice to go back and “Make Changes” or to “Continue.” Once you submit any changes, you will receive confirmation that your session selections were received.
We ask that you submit three session choices in each time block in case a session gets cancelled or reaches capacity. By requesting three, we have your second and third choices on hand to assign, if needed. This ensures that when you arrive at the convention, you have a full schedule assigned to you.
InTensive sessions are 4-hour-long workshops that offer extensive, in-depth education and provide you with a certificate of completion. These sessions are limited to a very small number of participants to give attendees more access to the presenters and hands-on attention from them.
Sometimes sessions are restricted to a certain number of participants because of equipment limitations. We want to give the greatest number of attendees the opportunity to take these classes, so we may offer them more than once throughout the convention.
While we do not sell individual sessions in advance of the convention, once on-site you will have the option to register for single sessions based on availability. The pricing for single sessions is not determined until event time.
Of course! We love seeing our international members and friends at the events. Last year delegates representing more than 62 countries traveled to our event! If you want to attend this event, contact us and we’ll help by providing the necessary visa letters you need to submit for your application. Don’t wait though; the sooner you get the visa application in, the better your chances of getting approved.
All requests for refunds or transfers must be in writing and include your reason(s) for cancellation. All cancellation requests will be subject to the following administrative fees:
- If received before June 2, the processing fee is $50.
- If received June 3–July 7, the processing fee is $100.
- If received after July 7, no transfers or refunds will be issued.
