Using a kettlebell, the double arm clean is a fantastic way to learn how to do this movement correctly. This also works with a dumbbell, but is not quite as good. Perform a double arm clean and bring the bell up into the rack position using both hands. Now perform this with one hand as a progression. Come down, using the lower body to help drive the kettlebell up and come right into that rack position every time. Our last progression with this sequence is a clean and jerk. Clean it and then press it overhead with a jerk. The timing is really critical with this exercise. You've got to get underneath that kettlebell to drive it up powerfully and quickly.
