Alternating Lunges Side-to-Side Lunges with Contact Point

Incorporating cardio drills into your strength training is a great way to get the heart rate up and increase the caloric expenditure. This exercise sequence is a really simple one to learn. Start off standing on the balance trainer and hold a weighted bar or use a dowel to help balance. Then do some alternating lunges. Lunge side to side while keeping your weight on the leg that's on the BOSU. Touch down lightly. To progress, take away that contact point and balance as you lunge. For a further progression, add some propulsion, speed up the movement, and give it a real blast. That's a good way to increase the caloric expenditure in your exercise program.
