UPPER EXTREMITY EXERCISE - METHODS-APPLICATION-ANALYSIS-PRACTICE M.A.A.P.
During this course will review the structure and function of the upper extremity joints and muscles. We will explore the structural components and functional interrelationships and application to resistance training exercise for the upper extremities. We will discuss the risks, benefits, and perform movement analysis on a variety of upper extremity exercises (pushing, pulling, swinging“and more) and apply theory to practical hands-on skill building. This course is directed toward giving the participant an increased understanding of upper extremity biomechanics as it relates to resistance training. 5.0 AAPTE CECs
Introduce the structural and functional components of the upper extremity joints (specifically: glenohumeral, elbow and wrist.)
Utilize an analysis process to assess the safety and mechanical efficiency of upper extremity exercises.
Understand how to manipulate and correct exercise mechanics to improve movement efficiency and adaptive responses.
