225: Recovery-The Forgotten Training Variable

Time Block F - Saturday, 2:15-4:05pm
Presented by: Pete McCall, MS
Session Format: Lecture

Do you have clients who love to exercise vigorously every day yet can't seem to lose weight? Do you work with athletes who love to train and compete but don't seem to improve? The typical mentality is that if a little exercise is good, then more must be better; however, overtraining is a serious issue that has detrimental consequences. Simply increasing volume and intensity of training is not the best way to overcome a plateau. Another way to consider overtraining is that the athlete or client is under-recovered. This lecture will help you to identify whether your clients suffer from overtraining and provide you with program design strategies to help clients move toward their goals and avoid the consequences of being under-recovered.
