647: Protein and Prebiotics

Protein is a vital nutrient for maximizing the results of physical training, promoting optimal postexercise recovery, and maintaining a healthy body weight. First, we will address what kinds of protein should be ingested, and discuss amino acid supplements as well as soy protein and its safety. Then we'll define prebiotics and their associated health benefits, as well as the distinction between pre- and probiotics. Daily intake recommendations for prebiotics and food sources that will help people meet these recommendations will also be covered.
