100: Are We Ready to Stretch?
If you regularly assign stretching exercises to clients who display muscle tightness, you might have noticed that no matter how much effort goes into improving flexibility, some clients simply do not experience positive results. This enlightening, hands-on session will offer an in-depth look at the fundamental issues relating to flexibility, such as the nervous system's involvement in muscle tightness and how it regulates motion, and how limitations in flexibility may be part of the body's protective mechanism to guard against injury. You will utilize specific tools that are intended to assess a client's physical abilities and their potential success for flexibility training. In addition, you will gain alternative options for improving flexibility, recognizing that there are times that stretching may not be the only answer for increasing range of motion. Note: This session may qualify for up to 4 CEC hours.
