Most proteins contain a similar amount of all 20 naturally-occurring amino acids. What makes one protein supplement different from another is the method of isolation and the amount of pre-digestion that allows the protein to be broken down to core amino acids for re-absorption. They can differ widely by the other elements that may be incorporated, such as sugars, quick release carbohydrates, lactose, growth hormones, etc.

Diabetes is a complex endocrine disorder that affects the body’s ability to regulate glucose, and insulin secretion and utilization. Loss of normal insulin physiology results in changes in how fuel is used in the body, and how storage and hydration occurs. Many clients with diabetes have macro- or micro-vascular complications from their disease, which alters their ability to fuel appropriately, maintain hydration status and train. This session will review type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the metabolic complications that are associated with this disorder.

Exercise is a form of trauma. “No pain, no gain” is a great slogan but it has its downside. Pain resulting from exercise results in muscle loss via inflammatory mediators called cytokines. Omega-3 oil can modify inflammation and make protein supplements more effective, as well as optimize exercise periods. This lecture will provide many powerful nutritional insights, such as how to deal better with inflammation, disease prevention, and improved training and recovery times.
