Lecture / Workshop presented by: Paul Juris, EdD

Time Block J1 - Friday, 8:20am-12:10pm (Special Time)
A joint in motion does not guarantee that the muscles around that joint are being properly strengthened. Cable-based systems are often referred to as functional trainers, yet improperly applied, they do little to increase functional development. The key variable that influences the outcome of any of these applications is joint torque. In this 4-hour seminar, we’ll define, describe, calculate and explore joint torques, and their significant effects on exercise results and functional outcomes.

Exercise is a form of trauma. “No pain, no gain” is a great slogan but it has its downside. Pain resulting from exercise results in muscle loss via inflammatory mediators called cytokines. Omega-3 oil can modify inflammation and make protein supplements more effective, as well as optimize exercise periods. This lecture will provide many powerful nutritional insights, such as how to deal better with inflammation, disease prevention, and improved training and recovery times.
