Soccer is a fun sport that is loved by people all over the world. It’s fun to play no matter how old you are, and it’s very easy for beginners to learn how to play. You don’t need to stick to a specific type of surface to enjoy soccer, you just need a ball, which makes this sport one that can be played anywhere. Soccer players don’t need a ton of strength to play the game like other sports including football.
There are many different types of 'fitness plans' for different goals and needs: reduction of lifestyle health risks, injury rehab, general fitness, stress reduction, and sport specific training are some of the main ones. Yoga can have a role in many of these programs. I've talked in the past a bit about yoga for runners, and yoga for stress reduction, and so on. Because I have had quite a few soccer players lately, I would like to talk a bit about how your yoga can be helpful, either in off season or during your playing season.
Today we had the first actual RL52 Cycling sports specific session at Launch Sport Performance in Rockville, MD - Pre-Season Football Cycle! It was amazing to actually see football players on the bike in the cycling studio going through the sports specific sets, mimicing actual on-the-field work on the bike and listening to their feedback and reaction to this type of training. Oh yeah and the bike moves from side to side - its not just your ordinary bike...but an amazing cross-training tool.
