About 15 million people will have a stroke each year. There are many reasons why people have a stroke and many strokes happen because of modifiable risk factors.Six million people will die of a stroke, and 5 million become permanently disabled. If you knew you were at risk and had the chance, would you want to prevent a stroke from happening? Each of the following attributes includes a percentage that indicates stroke risk.
I was always one of those people to accept a challenge. When someone told me I couldn't do something, I was determined to prove them wrong!
Looking back on my life, all of my most exciting adventures and learning experiences were because I was first challenged by someone else or myself. 6 months in Spain followed by backpacking through Europe. Moving to NJ by myself for a new job. Playing rugby in college. Qualifying to run the Boston Marathon. And most recently, an open water swim triathlon.
To remain the same or to change. To change requires courage, the courage to risk failure, the courage to risk difficulties, and the courage to risk sucess. Change is a process of becoming a new person. So many people take a New Years oath to lose weight.. or to get fit again... or just to get healthy.. But why wait til New Years? Why wait. Find courage and leap!
