The holidays are just around the corner, and it’s time to party it up, and most of us are totally stressed. Why not try out my 7 Ways To Fight The Holiday Stress right now?

3500

That's the magic number. But, that’s not how many pushups or burprees I want you to do. This is the number of calories that equal 1 pound. If you take in 3500 calories you just took on 1 pound. Of course, this means, if you put your body in a deficit of 3500 calories, that's 1 pound you’ve lost.

Talk Yourself Out of Your Bad Eating Habits

I have many clients with eating disorders and I also struggled early on in my life with an eating disorder.  It is difficult to rewire the brain to get out of the "old habits" or ways of thinking and to make the brain think of an alternative way to cope.  Stress is the #1 cause of emotional eating as I know this personally and I see it daily with my clients.  The simplist way to deal with this if you turn to food as your release is to TALK YOURSELF OUT OF IT!

MINDFUL CONSUMPTION

March is here.  Today I continue to be focused on the nutritional needs of our body.  Our food intake is not only about energy balance.  Recently a new field of study has emerged called “nutritional psychiatry”.  In an observational review of the data, Jacka (2017) notes that mood is not only effected by what we do eat especially during our emotional binges which are those times when we consume to excess (for both sad and happy occasions).  Our mood is also found to be effected by what you do NOT eat.   Once again, we are looking for a balance

Be careful, that cereal bowl holds more than one serving size

The first place to start is “Serving Size.”  I know many of us have heard about using your fist or your palm and that is all well and good when it comes to meat.  The serving size I want to discuss involves packaged food, any kind of packaged food.  Let us start with breakfast.  This is an easy one and it makes my point very clear.  The serving size is on the nutrition label.  And note that changes are forthcoming on these labels.

Be Thankful for your health!

When it comes to avoiding overeating on Thanksgiving, my best portion control tip is to eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and eat a lot of vegetables.  Your side dishes can be made with organic ingredients, and remember that you don't have to overeat just because it's Thanksgiving.  You'll enjoy yourself more if you don't.

#makeitorbreakit Challenge #1

Ok so the first habit we are going to try to break is NO CALORIES after dinner!

Healthy Holiday Eating Strategies

The holiday season is a time to celebrate with family and friends. Unfortunately, it’s also a time when any people eat too much and gain weight. Of course you can control whether you overeat or allow yourself to gain weight.

Fit Tips: Eat...More

Eating only three daily meals? Heavy and infrequent meals tend to trigger inactivity and a feeling of lethargy. You might have had the experience of feeling like resting after a heavy meal. Instead, try eating five times a day, around every 3 hours including two mini meals between three basic meals. Eating this way stimulates metabolism, increasing your energy levels. Since activity levels decrease throughout the day, less should be consumed in the latter part of the day.
