Lessons from a hike

A few weeks ago, a few friends and I went for a hike.  It was a beautiful sunny day, and we were excited to be on a new trail.  We had an idea of where we were going and which trails we needed to follow in order to get us to where we wanted to go.  We took a picture of the map so we could have it on our phones and started out.  It was about a nine-mile hike, and we were confident of our ability to read a map and follow the trail markers!  All was well as we hiked and enjoyed the scenery and the company of each other.

Hiking in Acadia National Park

About a week ago we have the opportunity to visit our son Kieran who was interning in Bath, Maine this summer. We were able to climb, I say climb because hiking would not be the word, as there were no switch backs Cadillac Mt. in Acadia National Park. We had a great day with Kieran and a marvelous day to hike. We visited 6 different cities in Maine, each one more beautiful than the next! PLEASE go out and enjoy what nature has to offer. Nothing invigorates you more!  If you missed the early summer posts on various benefits of exercising outdoors, please scroll down and take a peak.

August is NOT the end of outdoor activity. Try trekking/walking poles.

Rest and Recharge

I often find it funny when my clients give me the double take because I've told them to take a "rest" day.  Or when my Mommy Recess clients, give a big exhale of relief at the end of class when I tell them to take a moment for themselves and just breathe.
