I begin with Low fat cottage cheese and a small amount of milk,(almond milk or coconut milk work great but regular skim or 1% okay too). whip these in a blender to a smooth consistancy then add Kale ( it will make your shake green depending on what other ingredients you add, kale is loaded with vitamins and antioxidents, and it gives you 1 of your daily servings of vegetables quick and easy. To this base you can add an assortment of berries, mango ect. my personal favorite is peanut butter and bannana, add cinnamon to control blood sugar response.

I am not the biggest fan of protein shakes opposed to whole foods but understand they are completely necessary in this busy society. The perfect protein shake begins with the protein powder itself. I try to use a CLEAN protein not one of those large brands such as Muscletech, BSN, ON, Gaspari due to their added ingredients that are completely unnecessary to your shake. Next time you choose your protein take a look at the ingredient list and you will be amazed at some companies how they load a ton of ingredients into a simple protein powder. I like protein that uses New Zealand cattle which are vegetarian fed (not corn diets like most other) and they hand messaged. You may think this is extreme but the better quality diet of the cow - ultimately will be better quality for yourself. Once we select the "CLEAN" protein I am big fan of adding strawberries, blueberries and peanut and/or almond butter [ organic of course : ) ]

Perfect Shake!

Be Well,
Jason

My secret weapon is extracts. If I start with unflavored or vanilla protein powder, I can make just about anything taste like I want by using extracts and it doesn't take enough to add significantly to your calories, fats, or sugars.

whole food "meal replacement" packets are full of antioxidants and nutrients. They are different from isolated supplements in that they are made from real food so they are more easily digested and add variety to the foods you normally eat.

Natural flavor protein powder, orange juice, banana, non-fat plain yogurt. Sometimes I'll add strawberries, blueberries, or pineapple.

Hello Belinda,
I like to add Flax Seed Meal...it gives my shakes a "nutty" flavor!
