I try not to recommend the bars because they are so full of sugar. I tell them to eat real food and have a shake if they need to.

I agree with Allyson. Stay away from any protein bars. If you have tasted any protein powder I think it is pretty safe to say that it is not the most desirable tasting. When you look for a protein bar that tastes remotely good. Therefore, sugar is going to be in the bar to appeal to our tastes. Do not listen to marketing/health claims. Ryan seems to be confused with the "think thin bars" which actually are loaded with sugars...They are titled "sugar alcohols" which are sweeteners as opposed to regular "sugars.

Recommendation:
Forget the snacks, and disperse meals throughout the day. If you get hungry split the meals up to 3 to 4 or from 4 to 5. (Obviously with portion size in mind) Snacks are usually sugar-therefore I try and avoid snacks! Eat real food!

I'm a fan of Think Thing bars. They taste pretty good and are also sugar- and gluten-free.

It's not a protein bar, but great for energy....Larabar. They're fantastic and all natural with no added crap in them.

If you know a Shaklee Independant Distributor, try the Cinch protein powder and bars. They are all natural, pure soy/whey protein from non GMO sources. Also has a good fiber content, low glycemic, and taste fabulous. I am a PT and Yoga instructor and reccommend this company all the time.

As Allyson suggests, too many of the so-called protein bars are high-priced "candy" bars. Read the label to see much of the carbohydrate comes from simple sugars and how much from complex carbs. Also look at the list of ingredients to see what makes up the first 3 or 4 ingredients.

Take care.
