Awesome answer, Julie! I think the three words you chose (entertainment, empowerment, & education) just about perfectly sum up what an alluring Facebook page looks like to me.
In the end, it all comes down to the level of value the page presents itself as having. Also, I have to get the feeling that the page is there for what its audience wants. This means I'm usually deterred by a page that's clearly just concerned with promoting its own products and/or services.
Hope this helps with your research!

Hello Ron,
As a non-Facebook user...I prefer to use IDEAFIT as my social networking site.
Sincerely,
Michael

Hi Ron,
at this point in time: nothing that I can think of. I know that some people swear by the power of social media but to me it has become an unwelcome source of ever more e-mails in my inbox.
From what I can tell: people will find me if they really want to. I also deal with predominantly older adults and non-facebook users, so to me that whole facebook thing is rather irrelevant.
I guess that is an answer for your 'negative' column.

Hi Ron,
I am also a non-facebook user and have resisted it for all time...until I started to market my software. Then I felt compelled to start a company profile. I do not think there is a rhyme or reason when I "like" something other than networking opportunities with others in our industry.

Hi Ron,
I am not much of a Facebook user. I had a lot of positive feedback and got new clients from using my web site as one of the ways to promote and market my business. I did have a business Facebook page, but I didn't see much traffic from there so I just kept doing marketing thru other means. I did a lot of face-to-face networking and it was the best way of meeting other people and grow my business.
Best,
Harris

Hi Ron - I am a Facebook user. Three things I look for - entertainment, empowerment, & education. I also like the ability to create a "Secret" group, which I've done for my small group training participants. I try for education & empowerment on my Flourishing Home page....www.facebook.com/TheFlourishingHome

I'd say offering member perks would help people to "like" pages.
