None. There is currently no research to support supplementation and muscle growth. Eat a nutrient dense, high fiber plant-based diet. You will get all of the protein and nutrients that you need for both maximum muscle growth, health, and longevity. If anyone tells you different, they are either selling the supplements, or themselves received the wrong information. Remember, the only thing that matters is what long-term, peer reviewed, independent research says. Other than vitamin stores, Wieider Magazine, and other body building magazines, no real research exists to support such a supposition.

I would focus on nailing the nutrition first, before considering supps. Most competitors supplement with whey protein, egg protein, glutamine, vitamin C and complex B vitamins. What is good for one person may not work for all.
My advice, would be to talk to a serious nutrition expert involved in the fitness industry.

Protein supplements are expensive and poorly absorbed. Go with eggs, fish, or combine seeds, nuts, or beans with grains for complete protein. My favorite plant source is hemp seeds. Peanut butter sandwich works fine though.

Start with a good protein supplement. This, I believe, is the best "bang for your buck" so to speak. While it is possible to get enough protein through diet, most people simply don't. This should be a big help to you.
