I utilize the AFFA online Continuing Education Courses to get a majority of my CEUs. Once a year I will attend a workshop, seminar, or specialty certification to cover two objective: credits towards CE and gain new training ideas/techniques.

I recently got my personal training certificate through AFAA and one of the reason I went with them is because, they offered it on-line and also because I liked what I say on there website. I am a busy business owner and mother and I know that when it comes time to re-new my Continuing Education Courses I will do it on-line, because that works for my and my busy life. Thank you AFAA for making it so easy to stay on top of what's cutting edge in the fitness industry. Stacy Rae Mednick CPT

Hi Sarah,
The best way to get your CEU's are to take the AFAA home study course which is always offered through their magazine. Online and AFAA workshops are also good. The way that I get the majority of my CEU/CEC's for all my certifications is through IDEA's World Conference, which is in Los Angeles this August.

Please keep in mind that most Certification Organizations do require you to do 2 - 5 additional CEU/CEC's that are directly through them.

I would take courses that will directly benefit your career AND satisfy CEU's/CEC's. A lot of people just tend to waste money on something they just breeze through and send in to satisfy credits. There are many options offered by Michele to which you will satisfy AFAA CEC's and also, get better knowledge in the field, perhaps getting another certification to add to your resume, or taking an online education course!

JM

There is never one BEST WAY to attain AFAA CEUs that will fit everyone. I think Jason said it best, "courses that will directly benefit your career AND satisfy CEU's/CEC's"

Being in this field for almost 30 years, I have seen some instructors and trainers take things that can "freeze" through and doesn't really enhance their careers.

Do what benefits and is affordable for you.

I do like a combinations of all seven things that listed above to maintain all of my certification.

Since I am certified a Master AFAA Fitness Practitioner, I have to maintain 20 AFAA CEUs where as everyone else has to maintain 15 CEUs. So far, I earned over 50 CEUS through AFAA and other organizations. There is just too much to learn in one lifetime.
