I would like to learn about this topic too. My daughter has scoliosis and I need corrective exercises for her. I recently bought Pilates Illustrated (http://www.ideafit.com/fitness-products/pilates-illustrated) and I like that every exercise is well illustrated with lots of images and easy to follow. I would like to know if anyone knows any scoliosis specific exercises.

Hi- I am a Pilates instructor as well as Personal Trainer and have had terrific success with my scoliosis clients with Karena Linebacks book - Scolio-Pilates. The wedges she uses have been invaluable. My client is 16 and said it was the first time she could lay comfortably to get the body in position to even do the correct exercise. http://www.osteopilates.com/

Hello Shawn,
I looked at your profile and notice that you are an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Have you had a chance to look at the Integrated Fitness Training Model.
I do think you would be pleasantly surprised. The model as far as my professional opinion is concerned is AWESOME! As an ACE Certified Professional you can learn about it for FREE and earn 0.1 Have a look on the website.
Hope this is helpful to you.

Greg Roskopf's MAT (Muscle Activation Technique). I have watched him perform minor miracles on people he was demonstrating on. He is getting into the last little detail of where muscles start and end and what EXACTLY they do. when he finds one not being a team player, he uses an activation technique.

Gray Cook, Gary Gray, MAT is interesting as previously mentioned so is ART, NASM's CES for training, and the ACE IFT model is pretty good.

I agree with Shawn. Gray Cook is awesome. A must have on any trainer's bookshelf is his book "Movement: Functional Movement Systems"

the pain free program by Anthony Carey a CEC program from ACE is good for corrective exercises. I have used it in my gym.Combine this with ACE IFT program.

I have attended corrective exercise workshops at the IDEA Fitness Fusion events yearly since 2004 and am presently taking the CES course. It has tremendously enhanced my understanding of the human movement systems. This knowledge will allow me to prescribe an exercise program based on the individuals muscle strengths and weaknesses.
Susan Retzlaff, NASM- CPT and soon to be CES
