There can only one answer for me: the IDEA World Fitness Convention. The session selection for personal trainers is just as comprehensive as in the convention geared towards personal trainers, but I love the additional focus on group fitness in its myriad of forms.
Another reason why I love IDEA over other events is that the presenters come from a greater variety of backgrounds and philosophies. You get presenters like Greg Roskopf, Tom Purvis, Gary Gray, Chuck Wolf, Peter Twist, Douglas Brooks, Paul Chek and many more who all have their own views. While it was daunting for me at first, I have come to appreciate this variety of approaches and schools of thought.
As all of them put it: you can never have too many tools in your toolbox. As our clients have all very different wants and needs, as trainers we cannot be to flexible in our approach as long as we adhere to certain 'inalienable truths'.

I have been attending various conferences for YEARS and have found the IDEA Personal Training Institute to be a GREAT source of info for the price and time involvement

Yes! The IDEA Personal Trainer is outstanding. It is top of my list because of the absolute attention on the personal training CAREER. It is completely applicable to our daily lives and what we strive to make of our profession.

I always go to different conferences: NSCA, ISSSMC and IDEA. Each gives me more than one view on training, research.

Perhaps what determines your choice, in conferences, is the workshops, the learning focus and the location. Review the conference presentations: get a feel for the emphasis and direction, are the presenters the top in their field, are the topics of value to you, are energetic classes important or is scientific research, or both? Sometimes you may want to explore a conference you have never attended for the experience, the colleagues, the material, and the focus.

Two groups that I trust are IDEA World Fitness Convention, and American College of Sports Health & Summit Conferences. Both are fantistic, very informational, energetic, important scientific research and you get to meet colleagues from all over the world.

IDEA World is my personal favorite as I'm able to take a wider variety of classes that are not necessary geared to Personal Trainers. IDEA as well as ACE (American Council on Exercise) also hold Personal Trainer Conferences.

Unfortunately, I've never attended an IDEA conference. I'd love to...maybe in a few years when the kids are a bit older:)
My certifying body, CPTN, puts together a fabulous conference! I had a session with Stu McGill last year, Karsten Jensen this year, and a ton of other fantastic presenters. I learned a lot about current thinking/research in marketing and movement, and left with so many useable nuggets of info that I started implementing on Monday morning. I think why this might be my favorite is because it's not as large as CanFitPro....
CanFitPro has both my sentimental and professional vote since it was my first:) and still attracts industry leaders; persons for whom I'm willing to invest an hour or two to hear what they have to say. But, it has gotten HUGE...this is good and not so good. Suffice to say, I will probably always attend since there is always sufficient material of interest to me.

The basic answer for me is a conference that is presenting subjects of interest, that I can use, and that will help advance my current certification (i.e. is accepted and recognized by my specific certifying body). Of course, add AFFORDABLE to the mix in determining what is "best" for you. :-)

IDEA World has been my favorite conference, hands down. The only problem I've run into is that some of the sessions I was interested in and attended (GYROTONIC comes to mind) did not yield any CECs from ACE.

I haven't yet attended, however, I will attend this year, but I have heard really great things about the American Council On Exercise Fitness Symposium.
I am looking forward to going this year.
