What do you think is the hottest trend in fitness beside Zumba?
I am a Health and Wellness Coordinator and am looking to see what other fitness facilities are offering their memberships.

Fitness boot camps are huge! The interval style training is result-oriented, fast-paced and motivating. Specialty camps are super popular like 'ladies only', 'couples', and 'teen' fit camps - being comfortable in your workout environment makes for better results.

Barre Conditioning is the hottest thing in Denver right now. Besides that, I would go with TRX training.
I have been wanting to try that!! I teach yoga and pilates and am a dancer, so that would be something very good! I will check out the TRX too!

Depends on what you're looking for in a workout, cardio or strength training. One that has been around for a while is Les Mills Body Training Systems. They offer several different formats which include strength training, cardio interval training, cycling, yoga, dance, and step to name a few. The reason they are so popular is the music and choreography is created by the Les Mills team. They come out with new workouts every three months so the routines never get boring and the members of your club know what to expect when they enter a class.

You should check out the R.I.P.P.E.D. program (www.rippedusa.com). We started doing instructors trainings last year and have over 2,000 instructors who are now certified to teach. It's being taught across the country in over 800 facilities. We offer ACE, AFAA and NASM CEUs through the training as well. We presented at World IDEA in 2010 and are coming back this year.
Wow, I checked out your site, very impressive. As a dancer and fitness professional the music component is important. I could see this being a program put to use at my facility. Loved the energy and for myself, I work a fulltime job, and I am also the Health and Wellness coordinator so it is hard for me to incorporate the weight training that I need. This would be very popular in our area!! I will check out your site some more. You say certified, is there testing to your program at the end of the day of training? I think you have a great program that does not require me to purchase any other equipment that what I presently have. Well done! I teach Zumba classes and yoga and pilates at the present. More more question, can we host a training?

I think the biggest trend are programs that are easy to follow. Boot Camps are definitely in that category and so can be Dance. Zumba of course is the front runner. But I just finished hosting and taking the "Dance With Me" Certification with Sharon Blanks and Billy Blanks Jr. this weekend in Las Vegas. Yes, they are a Certification following the AFAA guidelines and it is completely different from ZUMBA. Our members loved the demo classes they offered and Sharon and Billy were outstanding trainers who really convey the need for a lot of Fitness Professionals to be a little more humble and to connect more with the participant. I think that DWM will be another program for ZUMBA lovers to fall in love with, right along with Hot Hula Fitness by Anna-Rita Sloss and Sh'Bam. Las Vegas just seems to love to dance right now....and not the complicated stuff.
Over the past two years, after only offering Body Pump, we added all Les Mills Programs and their Instructor Training is absolutely top notch! Other program trainings can be hit or miss depending on the trainer (but we LOVE Jani Roberts for ZUMBA and Teresa Sorenson for R.I.P.P.E.D. and Courtney and Sara from Piloxing), and we compare all trainings and follow up with Les Mills. But I have to say that Billy and Sharon created that feeling in their training, that will send your instructors home with the right attitude that will make any program successful.

Any class that doesn't have a lot of advance and/or complex choreography such as Bootcamp, circuits and dance.
What I love about Billy Blanks - Dance with Me is that it's simple, fun and offers a large variety of dance genres.
I have been teaching a simple style like this his since 1984.

Although not listed in the top five or six in the IDEA list of Trends for 2011, this will FIT into most of the top 5-6 somewhere.
Getting back to basics and using BODY WEIGHT as a training method can fit into that list. Alwyn Cosgrove "You shouldn't even enter the gym until you have mastered body weight training"
Special populations and injury aside, if you cannot "move your own body" and do so WELL you probably don't have any business moving other things.
Body Weight training is a precursor to better proprioception, a better way to train movement and THEN the muscle.
ALMOST EVERY work out should include some type of exercise in which the persons own body weight is used to create the resistance challenge. :-)

R.I.P.P.E.D. is the hottest program right now in this country. You get an intense workout and it's a lot of FUN. Isn't this the best combination in fitness, right?
