What are your thoughts on the role of recovery and sleep in exercise & life!?!?
With HITT people do high intensity and then recover completely in between. Also, we know time and rest is required for muscles to rebuild, etc. I am wondering what people have seen with clients as far as how much sleep they get vs. results and other ideas like that.
Here are some useful links:
I personally need 8 hours of sound sleep.
I Hope This Helps!
I don't recommend high intensity training on a daily basis
Overtraining causes insomnia so I recommend mixing workouts up and paying attention to signs of over doing it
As for HIIT, two times a week for the average person, and up to three-four times a week for a serious athlete. Over-training can become a serious issue ( some symptoms include sleeplessness, fast heart rate, and anger/temper) so that's something to look out for.
To build muscle, the body needs to completely rest and heal itself, so it's best to wait between 48-72 hours, depending on training intensity, before working out that particular muscle/muscle group.
Muscles do not produce the desired effects while people workout- HIIT/lifting/otherwise. They repair themselves with the desired effects.
Sleep and recovery also allows an individual to fully exert themselves on an exercise.
