The best exercises for any athlete are those which require total body movement and teach explosiveness such as cleans jump squats and push press. In terms of athletics and recreation the core is essential so any exercise working to directly strengthen it are golden. Such exercise can be planks, cable rotations, med ball twist. hope this helped

Start with General Physical Preparation (GPP) then move to more specific exercise. Without knowing where in their training age they are it is hard to make a recommendation other than this. Look at the sport and do a needs analysis for what traits they will require and work toward that direction.

First, make sure they have a solid foundation. At the very least, they should know how to perform bench press, shoulder press, pull-ups, and squats, rows. These are your foundations upon which to build on. Once these are mastered, move on to explosive movements as Webb suggested. Also DON'T forget about plyometrics, such as overhead throw, side throws, powerful trunk rotation using a cable, alternate bounding, jump squats

Hi Radha. Once we have all of the necessary permissions and assessments out of the way (which I'm assuming you have already done here) I always begin with an analysis of the sport itself and the physical requirements necessary to complete their athletic skill. In my opinion, working on lower body power would be a necessity here, as well as on rotational strength and power. There are a number of exercises available to develop each of these, and to list them without real explanation of what they are and how to use them is probably beyond the scope of an answer that I can provide here. But for me these are two areas that I would definitely work on with a cricket batsman.

I hope that this helps!
