I have fondest memories of hikes with the Sierra Club. The focus is not fitness but for some of those hikes, it's simply a prereqisite. What I love best about that is that it reminds me of my reason for staying fit: to do anything I want to do and not having to wonder whether I can.

Anything outdoors. I find that going on a cruise is actually great for your fitness. Most have some of the most amazing gyms, you stop at some very exotic places and can often go rock climbing, biking, swimming, hiking, etc, and you have your choice of food. That last part is dangerous but can also be super healthy.

I went on a cruise with my mom's extended family. It was such a great time and when I finally had time for the gym I found a rowing machine. It was at the front of the ship and I imagined that I was powering the ship with my body. Sounds corny but it was an awesome workout.

They are usually outdoors-based. I haven't done any yet because I haven't had a vacation in so long I forgot what one is! It's good to have one where you try something new, but I think a good vacation can also include a trip to a place where an activity or sport is very popular or easier to do than at home. For example, traveling to a place where bicycling is easier to tour, places with running tours, famous hiking trails, etc. Those are good places to start because they make use of what is already there.

Agree with the above - Camping/Outdoors

All activities during these trips require physical activity (hiking, kayaking, etc) and avoid the use of technology (HUGE impact). If your a true camper - food is hunted, gathered, or caught - therefore poor food choices and fast food are avoided.

Fuel the movement,
JM

Come do Run Disney with me, but bring your own food. I've heard that Disney can wear you out.

Belize is a nature lover's paradise. There are rivers to tube, rainforests to trek, and just about any other adventure. It's a wonderful place to explore.

Anything outdoors is what I lean towards. Hawaii has some great hiking trails and if you are really big on outdoors New Zealand looks to be a great vacation spot.

I personally love vacationing while skiing/snowboarding. I completely wear myself OUT on the slopes, and sleep like a rock each night.
