We like to hold monthly events in our studio; any successful ideas out there?
Our client base is primarily boomer oriented and located in warm to hot south Texas. We are always looking for monthly event or contest ideas (that actually work) to offer to our clients who are 40 -85 years old.

I would understand the question a bit more if you could describe what your trying to accom plish with this "event". I hold a cookout, picnic, gathering kind of thing in the park twice a year or so. Nothing brings 'em running (with friends in tow) like food! Plus they'll sit through any health related topic with stalwart attention while they munch away. Keep all the food homemade and healthy and they'll talk your ear off about recipes for hours; mixed with a touch of business.

I've not done this but I had an orthotic & prosthetic business that specializes in the diabetic population tell me they get a lot of business by speaking to diabetic associations in the area. I'm not sure what all they did, shoes, compression socks etc. A good combination would be how exercise can help with diabetes.
I bet any of the associations related to the aging -- American Heart Asso, diabetes, alzheimer's , defensive driving, even internet & computer skills.
Hope this helps.

I have an association with a wellness center that is part of a hospital. They run monthly screenings that include cholesterol, glucose and some simple measurements. This is linked to information how diet and exercise can help with the management of this data.

What is the purpose?
To mix the current clients in a social atmosphere?
Or to get new clients?
Or??? You could be more goal specific. Thanks.

Have you thought about sending out an interest survey form to your clients. Perhaps they might suggest the type of lectures, programs that they would like to see offered at their gym.

I have parties where my cleints bring food to share with the contents/calories etc, labeled on the bottom of the plate. We taste and judge, sometimes I will fine tune some dishes and give healthier suggestions, then everyone passes out their recepies to share.
We then have a best of dish with a prize for the winner! It's fun.
You can do it at any event.
I have also offered a "stretch" class, which is a huge hit, along with chair massages.
