(Upper) Trapezius Pain
I was lying on my left side and my brother jumped on my right upper arm and pushed my shoulder down through my trapezius muscle. It kind of sent a shock through it and has been hurting for about the past month. While massaging it, it felt like there was a knot in it that was straightened, but still hurts. It's an on and off pain, but hurts quite a bit at times. I have full strength when without pain, but limited with pain. HELP!

Hello Michael,
Sorry to hear about your injury. Here's the deal....
Unfortunately, unless the individual is a licensed physician, there is no one on this portal who can give you a diagnosis. The best that anyone on this portal might be able to do is guess what the problem is.
Your best option is to see your doctor so that he/she can refer you to a specialist.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi Michael. I hope that things have resolved a bit for you by now. But just in case they haven't, I thought that I'd add my two cents worth to your question. I recently answered a similar question to yours also on this forum.
As others have suggested, I highly recommend your starting by seeing your physician. Taking this important step will help keep the 'guess work' out of it, and if it is a physical injury, this could help you deal with it early on rather than having it possibly become a chronic problem or more serious.
I hope that this helps and good luck!

Michael,
Depending on what state your in you should start with your physician. I trust that if your posting on here you enjoy exercising. With that in mind request to be seen by a sports medicine physical therapist, chiropractor athletic trainer or in some states you can also see an acupuncturist.

What has the doctor said? I always advise getting a second opinion.
