Proper way to handle request for bootcamp outside of gym from gym member?
I teach 6 classes at one gym, three are freestyle HIIT classes. Occasionally I will do a bootcamp style class. One of my regulars asked me if I would consider doing a neighborhood bootcamp. She lives 2 blocks from me and has a number of friends/neighbors that want to join in. Would that cause problems with my employer? What is the best way to handle this situation?
I just want to make sure I behave ethically and honestly.
I do not believe that this will be a problem with your employer but it certainly would be a good idea to tell him about your plans. Or had you planned to make it an offering as part of the gym membership?
I see a different snag, though. Your profile is not complete so I do not know whether you have your own business that would legitimize conducting classes like that. You need liability insurance, possibly a permit to conduct such a class if in a public space.
I did not mean to rain on your parade. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to branch out but it would be better to have all your bases covered.
You can always ask your employer if they're OK with it. If not, you have a choice.
Good for you; getting your business set up is the way to go.
