NHE who are they??

Fitness FacilitiesFitness InstructorjobsClub or Studio OwnerNational Personal Trainer Institute (NPTI)Personal Training: Skills/TechniquesPersonal TrainerPersonal TrainingNational Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT)Certification ExamCertifications

NHE (http://www.nhecertification.com) a certification agency has called me and emailed me for years (since 2008) about opportunities for working from home or in training. They claim that they have a very stringent hire process and are you up for the challenge. I have challenged them to the point of taking their exam and nothing has occurred no job structure or anything are we looking at a scam??? Does anyone know about this company and worked for them?

People don't really get scammed by NHE, they just call the company that whenever they don't get hired or fail the exam. It's all very silly. I've never taken the nHE exam but I know people who have and they say it's a really good exam because it really makes you think. I'm more of an NASM junkie and I'll always stick by them, but maybe someday I'll try them just for the challenge.

If you want an opportunity to work at NHE, you have to take two exams, but both are free and NHE doesn't make you buy anything or even recommend that you do, so that is in no way a 'scam' by even the thinnest interpretation of the word. I've done some research on them and there's no real argument in this case. The recruitment is stringent, based on the abundance of low quality fitness professionals in the market which is an aspect of our industry most of us have had to endure at one time or another.
Hope this helps?

I don't get it? You tried to work there but you failed the exam and so now they are a scam? That doesn't make any sense. You don't buy anything so how did you get scammed?

Hello Nawrocki,
Ask yourself, would be comfortable working with this company? What does your gut tell you? Look for reputable/professional firms that are established and trusted.

Sincerely,
Michael

If you don't have an exercise science degree, you shouldn't try the NHE exam. I highly recomend NASM for any level, especially advanced.

My personal experience with NHE has proven to e it is a scam. I applied for a position with them a couple years ago, after taking their exams, and was repeatedly mocked and flamed via email by a member of their HR department. it took nearly a year to get removed from their lists. Don't recommend getting involved with them!

I agree that it seems to be a scam. Any research I tried on the organization (where these "high paid" trainers/instructors are working, who endorses them, etc.) came up blank. I think if there really was an organization paying trainer and instructors as much money as they promise it would be very well known.

NHE is a newer fitness company but they also have collegiate courses at some JCs which are focused around ACLS training. I know a guy at my club who was really into NHE and talked about trying to get a job there. I looked into it too and talked to a few people regarding them and heard great things about their programs. It's tough trying to get hired there because you have to take a couple of exams, which are free of charge, but one is their high end program so you have to be pretty well versed in exercise science. The other one is a psych analysis of sorts. Not a lot of fitness pros have heard of them but the ones who have speak very highly about them. Sorry I don't know much more because I never got around to scheduling my interview because of certain traveling conflicts of mine. Good luck anyway.

If you failed the exam because you were under-prepared and you were notified accordingly, that is not NHE's problem. This notion that they want you to take an exam just to buy a study guide is far fetched and embarrassing to read, particularly when the study guide isn't required, apparently. I've spoken to them and never once did they mention that I had to buy anything to apply for a job there. If you apply for a position and claim to have a fitness background and your resume is full of fitness credentials and you are applying for a position that requires a minimum number of professional experience, then it should be their prerogative to make sure you are not misrepresenting the truth. Why would they anticipate that you would buy a study guide assuming you were a legitimate candidate in the first place? You are already a trainer. Only people who are unfamiliar with the subject matter would buy a guide and if you buy one anyway, that is still on you. You can't turn around and claim that they made you do it. Based on what?? There is probably every indication on your resume that you don't need to study.

Most people online are laughing at this whole study guide requirement claim because it isn't true that NHE requires you to buy anything to work for them.
