Hi Melisa. As a Speed Coach and Youth Conditioning Specialist I can say that there are dozens of drills for young athletes. It's a bit difficult to give guidance or examples without knowing about the specific kids involved, sports they play, and visual examples of the various drills. I can however say that what's important is that the drills are 'age-appropriate' and not simply a watered-down version of adult speed training. It's also vitally important, in my opinion, that they are taught proper deceleration techniques BEFORE introducing speed training and drills! As I always say, "you would not want to learn to drive a car fast before learning how to brake, and knowing that you have the skill/ability to safely slow-down and stop." Improper deceleration leads to a great deal of the lower body injuries we see in young athletes and so is a skill that MUST be included in speed training.

Organizations such as the IYCA have tons of information on training young athletes, and could be a great source for you.
