Question asked by Gao Zoua Downs 500 days ago
Is there a difference between a health fitness specialist and a clinical exercise specialist?
They are both certs from ACSM, but wanted to know if there were any difference between the two besides the fact that a CES needs 600 hours of clinicals. I just want to know if the jobs are the same in nature and if one will help me get into a clinical setting more than the other? Advantage and disadvantages? Thanks!!!

The more clinical experience you get, the more likely you will be able to wind up in a clinical setting. CES is a very good certification. I recommend it highly.

Gao,
One is a clinical credential the other is not.
Scope of practice is greater with CES.
As far as whether one will help you get into a clinical setting than the other, that would depend upon the employer. Some employers ask for HFS other ask for CES or RCEP.
