Is NASM CPT textbook required for NASM FNS?
I think I want to take NASM's Fitness Nutrition Specialist course to earn my 2.0 ACE CEU's. But would it be helpful to purchase the NASM CPT textbook to prepare for it? I already own NSCA's Essentials of Personal Training and ACE Personal Trainer Manual.
No it's not. NASM provides you with a downloadable e-textbook and slideshow presentation.

Hi Andrew,
no it is not; I have the NASM FNS, and it is entirely self-contained.
Happy studying.

Thanks Karin! The course sounds very interesting and they also have a reduced cost combo deal with the senior fitness specialist and fitness nutrition specialist courses.

The NASM FNS is a stand alone class. One only needs CPR/AED and a personal training certification to take it.

Hello, Andrew!
NASM had offered Combo Packs, too. One of them - CPT 4 FNS Combo. Check, please, www.nasm.org.
With regards, Miroslava.

Excellnt choice for how you'd like to earn your ACE CEU's! I've heard good things about NASM's FNS course/certification from a friend of mine who's also a trainer.
Unless there's some reason you'd like to have the NASM CPT textbook in your library, I'm on board with the other responses - you really don't need it to prepare for the FNS exam.
Best of luck to you come test day!
