I have invented several exercise devices, who should I contact in the fitness industry?

Fitness Industry

I don't have it patented yet and would like to work with a trusted company in partnership to get it polished and manufactured. The first one deals with the ease of mechanics in the arms and the wrists. The second and third ones deals with the core, balance, and strength. And both are made to be portable.

I would like to work with a stable and trusted company. Any suggestions as to who I should contact would be much appreciated.

Thank you friends.

i really don't have an idea about the "trusted" part as trust is earned. I certainly would take the time to get my ideas patented.

On another note, that last fitness invention that I remember that made a really big splash and is still going strong is the BOSU. The inventor of the BOSU is David Weck.

Perhaps that might be a good place to start.

I wish you well.

Jo-Anne mentioned David Weck. Great idea. Contact him by email and see if he is willing to share with you how he brought his idea to market. You may need an investor. You will need to apply for a patent to protect your idea. You may need an attorney to do a patent search. After you have either applied for the patent or have the patent (consult attorney), one way to drum up interest is to show your prototype at conventions, get published in fitness journals, etc. If you can get someone famous interested in your idea, then that will really help. Good luck!

Talk to as little as possible about it to anybody and go to the web site of the US Government Patent Office www.uspto.gov and make yourself knowledgeable about the process.

I echo Joanne's advice: be careful about that 'trust' thing until you have at least a patent pending status. Once the potential for making a lot of money is involved, you need to be careful. It is very easy to take an original idea, modify it slightly and run with it.

I wish you the best of luck.
