I agree with Joanne. Every morning when I wake up I make a point to write or say 3 things that I am thankful for. And then, like Harris, follow it up with a great cup of coffee too!

Hello Patricia,
I have always said everyday is my birthday...(it's a birth of a new day!") and I am thankful that I can enjoy each day that is given to me.
Sincerely,
Michael

Hello Patricia,
Taking the time to express gratitude for life works for me. Focusing upon what is good and wonderful in your life might also be effective.

I like Joanne's View.
For me a cup of coffee is always a great reason to wake up :-)! A new day always presents us with new opportunities and challenges...and that is good enough for me.

Hi Patricia!
Setting the intention on going to bed that you will have a good night's rest and wake up refreshed and feeling wonderful.
Sleep well.

All of the other responses are great advice. Whether it's coffee or hot green tea with mint and a bit of honey (one of my favorites), having something to look forward to after your first steps out of bed is a solid start to a dynamite day.

Hello Patricia Longwright,
I wake up grateful that I am healthy and able to see, hear, touch, feel, smell and move. After taking in all those senses while thinking of loved ones, I do some stretches before getting out of the warm, cozy, comfy bed. This gets me going in the right direction for the rest of the day.
At the end of the day, I prepare for rest by vegging out with thoughts of the day and what I am grateful for happening.
Repeat.
Take care and get a good night's rest while looking forward to the future.

Hey Patricia,
For my wife and I we meditate for about 20 minutes before we go to bed. It helps to clear our heads and focus on the next day. This way when we wake up we are already in the right mind set for the day. We also make sure we wake with enough time to get ready with out having to rush. I also like to do about 10 minutes of body weighted exercise in the morning to help get everything moving. coffee is good also. I agree with what others have said- say 3 positive things about yourself, or expressing gratitude is great!!

Create some daily blessings, a peaceful evening bedtime ritual and an inspiring morning wakeup ritual. As mentioned Bryant, eating right is important. Fuel source or amount may effect sleep and sleep effects mood. Serotonin and dopamine levels, hormones that effect mood, are also stimulated by exercise, foods ingested, and daily blessings.
