Although the number is quite high as with other type of instructors (certified/uncertified/undocumented/expired), I couldnt put a figure to it. This question may best be answered via a Google Search.

It might be a good idea to contact www.crossfit.com to find out how many instructors there are in the U.S.

Do you mean instructors who have legitimate affiliations to CrossFit? Or do you mean any and all people who take the WOD from CrossFit's website and lead a group in (attempting to) complete it?

Pretty sure you could find this out through a crossfit affiliated gym or one of their reps.
