Hola Elaine,
Over the many years that I have taught dance and fitness I have shared my appreciation of my clients in various ways. The thing to remember is that people no longer buy products and services they buy relationships and experiences. That being said, I've found strength in offering exceptional instruction, sincere concern for my clients and added "toques" touches, whether that be sending hand-written post cards from my vacation spots, gifting them annual subscriptions to fitness magazines, and compensation for referring their friends and families or offering special events and outings. For example, each time Cirque du Soleil comes to town I arrange a field trip, of sorts. Clients that are interested join me, my family and friends for a fun afternoon of amazing athleticism and grace. Or I host a spa party at the studio. (Some beauty product lines offer parties). The key is to add value to your clients' experience. Make your fitness facility a place where they want to be and a community that they want to be a part of.

I teach my students to appreciate themselves-who they are and everything they do- and be grateful for their health because it is making a difference.
Before and after my classes I tell my students to thank themselves for taking care of their mind and body (yoga classes) because not only does it help them, it helps those around them.
The more they appreciate themselves the more they will want to keep taking care of their health!

A Thank you note, or just saying it. Buy something healthy or a sports related product for each of them.

I love to give them props on facebook. My clients love this. I will tag them in a note saying "great job for working out at 5am this morning" or something to that effect.
I also plan group events together. We love to do races and then go to breakfast afterwards. Everyone pays their own way.
I also give away free sessions for referrals, their birthdays and anniversaries with me.

Appreciation is "gifted" and received differently by everyone. Be genuine and personal in your choice and make it so for them as well.

Hi Elaine. I periodically host a "client appreciation" dinner. A home-cooked meal, music, games and great conversation allows my clients to meet each other, bond, roast me :-), and feel as if they are part of something larger than themselves. My clients range in age from 6 - 85, athletes and non-athletes, and so it always brings a smile to my face to see such a wide demographic bond over food!

I make it a habit to listen well. In this way I am in the best position to show personal appreciation at an appropriate moment.

I treat them with respect. I thank them for coming after every training session. I thank them every time they purchase new sessions with me. I listen to them. I value their opinions. I honor their time and presence when they come to train by giving them 100% of my attention. Essentially I treat them the way I'd want to be treated.

I send them referrels if I can.
I always thank them after each session
I think it can get strange rewarding for a service so I tend to let my clients know their importance by sending articles to them about topics they have expressed interest in, or I refer many services to my clients, I also go the extra mile to accomodate their time restraints if need be.
The best reward are the results

I have developed partnerships with spas and luxury boutiques, who offer my clients special discounts and exclusive treatments each time they complete 10 sessions with me.
I also serve complimentary coconut water at the end of every session, gift a free class on birthdays, and give a session half-off for any referral.
They appreciate all that, and most thank me with touching thank you notes or small gifts or a lunch etc...
