How do you make an open house successful?

BusinessMarketing

We are having our first open house, what are some common mistakes made that we can avoid? How do we get the word out and what do we say to draw people in to our event so that it is a success? We have 4 weeks until the event.

Make sure you have healthy food that is super yummy. Food always draws people. You may also want to have fitness demonstrations as well as demos that can get the attendees involved if you have time.

It's best if you keep it clean and simple.

Promote a short little class as part of the event. Such a "Free Class on Eating for a Healthier Body" or something. People who want to lose weight or get in shape are always looking for more information on how to do it. You offer a short free lecture/class on the basics of eating well and you might have some more attendees.

Having short exciting programs, mini events and food (and a couple of celebrities would be helpful) are all good but the success will be directly related to your development and execution of an event marketing plan.
Too many people wait too long to get in full swing. Layering of invitations, fliers, press, emails, notices, personal appearances takes planning and dedication. You need two full months after you have set the details of what is going to happen at the event to do a full layered marketing program.
Success will be rated by the number of new customers and sign ups for membership and classes. Those two numbers are directly related to the number of people who attend. The number of people attending is directly related to the marketing!

We give Open Houses at our facility quite often and find that doing a raffle of some sort definitely draws interest! It could be a giant jar with signup sheets for a FREE membership (so now you have names and #'s for followup!)

Doing a press release is FREE publicity!!!

Draw attention to your event with balloons/banners out front and road signs on as many corners near your facility.

I am not sure what type of studio you have but focus on what sets you apart from the other guys! :)

Word of mouth, posting on Facebook and HERE ON FitnessConnect!!!!
