How do you exercise your happiness?

Ooooh, great question! I think we get so caught up in exercising our bodies sometimes that we can neglect this important part of life. Happiness really is a choice that doesn't have so much to do with circumstances as we think.
Somethings that help "exercise my happiness" besides simply deciding I want to be happy are:
~ separating the corners of my mouth. Hard to be grumpy for long when I'm faking a smile. LOL
~ look for humor everywhere.
~ do something meaningful - especially if no one can know about it.
~ look at photos of my new granddaughter!
~ make a face at my husband.
~ take a walk instead of running and look for birds, bees, flowers and stop to talk to people walking their dogs.
~ slow down & take a nap when the pace gets too hectic.
~ certainly not least: pray. I ask for help in this area because life can throw curve-balls at you that you don't see coming.

By helping others achieve their potential. Or finding something that truly motivates them to work harder, make new goals, and do great things!
And then of course by running!

We can increase our happiness by cultivating a positive outlook (i.e., seeing the glass half-full). An exercise that promotes positivity is meditation, particularly mindful meditation. I showcase studies on this frequently in the IDEA Fitness Journal mind-body-spirit news column.

Bottom line: if we want to be happy - we must keep moving!!
This question reminded me of a book I read recently by Gretchen Rubin called The Happiness Project it is the account of the year she spent test-driving studies and theories about how to be happier.

For me each workout is a celebration...I am celebrating my body's ability to move, to exercise, to express energy. Hard not to be happy when you are celebrating.

Great question. (: chanting (Kirtan/yoga devotional chanting), dance, meditation, belly dance, being outdoors, friends and being grateful I am healthy enough to do the exercise/movement I am doing as I do it.

I personally take my dogs on a run or a walk. That's how I do it.

by laughing...at everything lol. I am a pretty happy person all the time, I don't let the little things weigh on me and only spend time on things that I can change in my life. I enjoy the outdoors and nothing can recharge me like a good weekend white water float trip or a hike to the top of a ridge that overlooks this beautiful Alaskan scenery I live in.

Counting my blessings. Really, even on a 'bad' day, I am doing so much better than many other people, both close to me and in the far reaches of the world.
But I try not to be happy just in comparison. No matter where I am am, there is still some good to be seen. Sometimes I have to reach pretty far but even negative experiences at least give an opportunity to learn from.

Happiness is a state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, love, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy.
I make it a habit to always find the silver lining in everything. I ask myself at the end of they day, what is the best thing that happened to me today.
I am conscious to be kind to my family and the people I meet and come in contact with. I am cognizant that my actions can do much to add to the happiness of others.
