Question asked by Jody Smith 355 days ago
How do I set up a fitness website?
I'm an In-Home Personal Trainer who would like to set up a simple website to add to my IDEA Profile. I would love to find a fitness-oriented website service that's fairly easy to set up. Any suggestions?

Hello Jody,
I used Sitecube in the past because it was "flash" capable, domain registerable and I was able to set up a store front to sell merchandise.
That said...if these features are not important to you, then I would use IDEAFIT as your website.
Reasons:
Its FREE!
Its functional and easy to navigate
You can make changes without any fees
You can send a monthly newsletter to your clients
Upload Videos
Upload Clients Success Stories
Link to your Twitter
Link to your Facebook
Post and answer questions
Upload your monthly schedule, classes and events in your calendar
Post all your locations/addresses where you teach and add a map
List all your certifications, rates and accomplishments
Start a blog
Receive Reviews and Comments from your clients
Monitor your sites "hits"...visits
Whew...did I leave out anything?
I shut down my website at the beginning of the year becasue of IDEAFIT.
I have had greater success and more site hits than my other personal website by using IDEAFIT.
Wishing You Great Success!
Michael

Hi Jody,
I am a big advocate of doing it yourself. I used a software call Serif WebPlus which is rather cheap and is not difficult to use, particularly if you are familiar with Microsoft Publisher because it uses the same principle of page layout.
Godaddy is a great place to register your domain name and to do the web hosting. I found their customer service very good.
Granted, it has a learning curve, but if all you want is a site with information about yourself, why pay somebody. I am not a computer wiz but I made my own web site and am glad I did because now I can change quickly and easily. You can check it out. The name is www.meltnc.com.
Good luck.

I used 1&1 to develop my website- I am NOT very "techy" and I was able to put together a decent site- not perfect but a start! My site is www.completelifestylechange.com if you want to see an example.

Hi Jody. When I set-up my very first website I used Yahoo's Sitebuilder. It was very easy, even for a non-techy like me. I ultimately ended-up going in a different direction with my website, but I used Sitebuilder for many years.
I hope that this helps.

Hi Jody,
There are many online sites available that you can go and build your own web site. I'm in the process of building a site for my new business, since my old web site was sold as part of the deal I made when I sold my previous business. I used a professional web designer for that site and he did a great job, but this time I'm looking around to find the best way to build it myself. When I find the right site builder for mine I will get back to you.
Best,
Harris

Use Ideafit while you research more about website building and see if it's something you want to do yourself or outsource.
