Have you ever done a bootcamp that "travels" through the class?
For example, you run 1/2 mile or so to a park or open area to perform a circuit, then run to the next, and so on. If so, what are some of the challenges or benefits of running bootcamp this way?

I have held several of these classes but you must always compensate for different ability groups. We use multiple trainers to accomplish this.

I have not tried this yet, however I am planning to combine my morning and evening bootcamp group for a large Saturday workout where they can bring a friend for free and I will be implementing this method.

I used to run a class that would travel through a large park in town. Along the way there are benches, stairs and other similar elements that we'd use to perform various exercises. We'd make a big loop--the route would change each time to prevent boredom--and end up back at the start within the hour. I'd plan each trip so that we'd pass by water fountains at least every ten minutes so the class wouldn't have to worry about lugging around water bottles if they didn't want to.
This is a really elaborate park that tourists travel to visit so it was a great way to get exercise and enjoy our local sites.
It was pretty popular.
However, you have to have people who are relatively close in physical capacity or you'd risk others falling behind and losing the way.

This type of class format works great with my Boot Camp and in my community. There are at least 4 parks we can hit on our route. I have participants of all fitness levels and ages ranging 28-60ish. I encourage them to walk or run/jog within their ability. When we arrive at our stop, we do Jumping Jacks or Hign Knee's or some type of cardio until the others arrive. Once we ran to a friends house that has a porch with stairs going up one side and down the other. (I'd asked permission!) We also have a lakeside route which is not only beautiful, but there are park benches! And lastly, we are very fortunate that most of these stops are shaded so it works great on warmer days.

I also run a boot camp type class on Saturday at the beach - this class incorporates running on sand, trail and road and is interspersed with exercises on park benches, a tower run, beach volleyball nets. This class and terrain provides a great all round workout for all abilities, prevents boredom due to the variety and provides a workout for all body parts. The main key to its success is planning and running/planning the course before each workout to work out any pitfalls. Also water stops are incorporated at outside fountains and bathrooms !

Yes our bootcamp travels but with control. We don't let our bootcampers out of eye sight.
We use our parks and streets which are well lit since our classes are in the evening.
We set up cones and stations on curbs.
We use cul de sacs and dead end streets whenever we can.
I have a business license and abide by all the rules!
