Has Facebook, Youtube, Linkedin (social media) been able to increase your fitness profile and/or bring you new clients?

FacebookSocial MediaClientsMarketing

Can we use social media as a ways to bring, retain or push information out to our clients or can it harm your relationship with them.

I believe that the use of ANY social media has to be done with the awareness that you possibly unleash a monster that you can no longer control. Every time you hit a 'Publish' button you have increased your profile in cyberspace - for better or worse.

I believe that you will not do any harm to yourself or jeopardize any relationships as long as you conduct yourself professionally. If you mention any client or post a picture of anybody other than yourself, make sure it is done with their permission, also for the wording that you use.

It is my personal conviction that the social media (or blogs, even IDEA answers) need to be viewed as a window display to your business and yourself.

Karin is right! As we say in the law, "you can't un-ring the bell." So, while I believe that social media can definitely be a big help to our business as trainers (again if used correctly, smartly and with some forethought), it can also hurt it if we use it indiscriminately. The long and short of it is to THINK before you hit SEND! :-)

I hope that this helps.

It's definitely increased my exposure! I always conduct myself professionally but that's something I did in the "real" world before my presence in "cyber" space. I can't speak for everyone. I do separate and maintain my Facebook profile more for personal use (and socializing with family and friends) and my LinkedIn profile more for business relationships. I feel like different sites are geared towards different uses and I think others feel the same way based on the way I've seen sites being used.

Social media used mindfully, as some have already mentioned, has increased my visibility. I am able so share information about my business and special events. IDEA connect has helped with that a great deal.

I'm not a Facebook user, but before I sold my old company I was using my web site. Now I'm in the process of building another site and of course the IDEA Fit site is an excellent way to connect with others. Everyone has their own preferences on social media and different ways work for different people and businesses.

I have found social media to be useful for keeping contact with my current clients. But not much else and not as effective as my keeping in touch with emails, texts and phone calls. My website has been much more productive in generating new clients. This forum for answers is one of the few things that I still use in the way of social media. I discourage clients from spending too much time on social media as well. It leads to more sedentary time and less productivity.
