Has anyone tried surgery to treat achilles tendinitis?
I have been suffering from achilles tendonitis in both my achilles for almost a year. I have tried physical therapy, stretching and massage but it does not go away. If I walk for 30 min even with my orthodics in, my tendons tighten up and burn. One doctor I saw recommended surgery but I can't imagine doing that both because it is 4 months out of commission for each achilles and I know nothing about the success rate. Never thought I would be worrying about my achilles but now they are ruling my life.
I am sorry this is ruling your life. I would ask around about this operation, too.
If you look closely, there are many people who wear special shoes.
Maybe you could wait outside orthopedist offices to ask patients themselves, or go to specialty shoe stores that are run by foot specialists.
Maybe you could ask about MELT:

Keep doing your research and good luck.
I had not planned on answering this question since I cannot answer your question. I do not have any experience with this surgery and do not now of anybody who had it.
MELT is a technique to self-treat connective tissue. I have seen it help in many circumstances. Whether or not it can help you: I wished I knew. If you are willing to invest $40, I would suggest that you try the MELT Foot Treatment.
You write that you have seen physical therapists; so I assume that all avenues have been explored. I am not walking in your shoes and cannot imagine how I would react. Surgery seems a very drastic solution. Have you considered a second opinion?
I sincerely hope that you will find relief.
have you seen a foot and ankle specialist? If not, I would definitely look into that option as well.
I hope you are better quickly.
I would get another opinion, surgery is the last resort not the first
Achilles loading exercises. You can google this and find
Info on how to do them. Many YouTube videos are out there also. Another therapy
My physician wants to try is prolotherapy. I am seeing a physiatrist who specializes
In mobility problems. Good luck.
