Has anyone taken the NASM-CES?
I was thinking of attaining the Correctional Exercise Specialist certificate provided by NASM and wanted to know if anyone has already taken the exam? If so, what is the difficulty level? Is there a better alternative certificate or association for this type knowledge?
I just signed up to take it, and recently finished the FNS. Rating difficulty is not easy because it depends on your level of preparation. Judging from the FNS, you have to study, study, and then study some more. After that, you will pass easily.
I had another certification of that nature years ago (1996) with Michael Jones. It was called Medical Exercise specialist (and still is). My gripe at the certification was that, at the time, no proper continued ed was provided, and the program seemed to be tottering. I ultimately had to drop it from my list of credentials because I had not venue to maintain it through CeCs. (I have no doubt that this has changed now but I feel burnt.) While I learned a lot and have used the material for years, I decided to pursue this certification through NASM in part because I believe in NASM's staying power, in part because of the excellence of the certifications I have through them already.
Hope this helps.
