Group Fitness or LWMC
For ACE certified trainers, which additional certification will boost your income: the GFI or LWMC certification? For me the purpose of a certification is to prove that I am qualified; individual CEC courses are helpful to me and my clients but won't do anything for my resume. I can only afford one additional certification this year and I want it to be an investment that pays off financially.
You mention that the additional certification is only to demonstrate that you are qualified. That would tip the scales towards the LWMC certification. I hold this certification myself, and it is for the same reason.
The lifestyle coaching will boost your income by having the credentials to up your rates.
You can also begin teaching small group trainings which is more appealing to the general population. People seem to prefer working out with a friend and it's a savings for them and an extra for you.
I hope this helps.
One feeds into the other.
Here is the reasoning...
In the personal trainer curriculum, you learn a fair bit about behavior change through the IFT model. Hopefully this is something you are already putting in to practice.
Behavior change strategies is the backbone of the LWMC certification course.
As far as the GFI is concerned, I believe as a male you have more earning potential to teach and attract male group fitness participants than you would people who are seeking the services of a lifestyle and weight management coach.
Hope this is of help to you.
