Does anybody hold either a Boxing or Kickboxing Certification?
I was wondering which program you went through and whether you would recommend it. I have found a few online however I am unsure where to begin. I recently received my group fitness cert - however I am not necessarily looking for just group fitness kickboxing. I have taken an MMA style kickboxing class and would love to incorporate a lot more of that in my one on one training.

Hi, I recommend AFAA for the Group Exercise Primary along with the AFAA Kick Box certification.
The 2 courses cover it all. You can then choose how you teach the class. Athletic style drills or dance. You will have enough back ground on how to wrap the hands to bags and gloves. Safety for all will be covered.
Good Luck!

I have an AFAA Kickboxing cert as well. The class was really good and the instructor took time to help anyone with questions on form or execution.

I have AFAA cert for the past 12 years plus a presenter. I am sure you have all you need to know by now. So, feel free to contact me if you have any questions on finding great music!

Tactix Method by NESTA & John Spencer Ellis.
Great course at a great price. I am a martial arts instructor with 26 years of experience and a NESTA Certified trainer and this course taught me a lot I didn't know and was very informative and interesting. Lead by John Spencer Ellis, himself in all the on line videos. http://www.tactixmethod.com/

I am certified by Powder Blue for Turbo Kick. It is more dancy however you can make it more athletic. It's a preformatted class so it's easy to learn. I think this program is best for Group Fitness. You can find out more at www.turbokick.com I have been certified with them for going on 5 years.

I would recommend AFAA for kickboxing certification. The certification class and the instructor manual that you get cover a great deal of information. If you get a good foundation you can adapt it to where you want to go with your own class. Good Luck.

I am certified with TurboKick as well, although pre-formatted choreography has been uncomfortable for me with my additional kickboxing experience.
I have also been certified by Billy Blanks in TaeBo. I highly recommend this experience, although costly and time-consuming. Changed me forever.
Additionally, in the NYC area, Michael Olajide Jr., of AeroBox fame, has recently announced that he is offering an AeroBox certification. I don't have the $ for it this time around, but having used his videos for years and visited his studio for classes, I cannot say enough how awesome this would be.
I also have a friend who is a master instructor for AFAA Boxing and Kickboxing certification workshops, which are supposed to be good.
A lot of these certifications take place over the course of only 1 day or a weekend, and I think we all know that you could never learn all you should in that time frame. Previous experience, good form and a love of the format will make the difference. A lot of gyms, from what I've seen, do not necessarily require a specialty cert for cardio kickboxing, only an impressive audition and an understanding of form & safety.
